About Hourglass

Hourglass were formed over 30 years ago in 1975 and started life as independent decorative glass processors. Hourglass has since built up a full range of bespoke glass services that are all carried out at our factory in Havant, Hampshire.
Investments in our company mean that we have access to some of the most technologically advanced equipment for cutting, toughening, and decorating glass. This state of the art technology gives us the control over both the production time and quality of all of our bespoke glass products.
We are constantly working with other designers and architects to really push the boundaries of bespoke glass creation. We pride ourselves on our strong research and development ethos.

Our Services
Hourglass specialise in bespoke glass structures designed for public, private and commercial applications. The company collaborates with designers, architects and structural engineers to undertake projects from the design stage through to installation.
Glazing products include canopies, glass balustrades, glass staircases, glass floors, showcases and shop fronts.

Cutting & Processing
All the glass processes are carried out at our own factory. We use the most up to date equipment, and work to very accurate tolerances to produce extremely high quality finishes on both clear glass and mirror.
Our full range of processing includes cutting, straight edge polishing (to 80mm thick), drilling, bevelling, CNC shape polishing and bevelling, brilliant cutting, waterjet cutting and laminating. We also manufacture bent glass.
To complement our high quality processing, we toughen glass on our own plant to give a superb finish without 'roller wave' or surface pitting. We also apply safety films to the processed glass where required.
With our full range of in-house equipment, we can offer any of the above processes or any combination, at short notice, if required.

Bending
Hourglass have installed the latest computer controlled furnaces which enable us to produce accurate bends with a very quick turn around. All shapes of bends are possible up to a thickness of 25mm. We work to our normal exact tolerances and can laminate bent glass to give safety and security.
Our laminates can also incorporate other materials such as wood, fabrics, decorative films and photographs. Our bent, annealed, laminated or toughened glass can be made into showcases, shopfronts and double glazed units.

UV Bonding
Hourglass has many years experience in UV bonding glass to glass, and glass to other materials. Showcases can be made with mitred joints and incorporate bent glass, laminated or toughened glass, depending on the style and situation. The accuracy of glass processing means that complex angles can be UV bonded with confidence. Metal fittings, hinges and locks can be bonded to the finished construction to give both security and support.

Laminating
Hourglass produces laminated glass using EVA films for both internal and external use. The laminates can be made with both annealed and toughened glass, of any thickness, including mirrored glass, to give both safety and security.
Many materials, such as coloured films, fabrics, metals and veneers can be inserted into the laminate to give decorative effects. We can use clients' own materials for unique bespoke results.

Decorative Finishes
Hourglass has a diverse range of processes for decorating glass, including sandblasting, with a variety of textures and effects from both our own design studios, and also from clients' own designs or logos. We also sandblast both deep carved designs and multi depth images.
Coloured films, and custom made paint finishes, in any colour, can be added to any of our annealed, toughened, laminated or bent glass. We screen print both designs and whole surface colours, both opaque and translucent.
